PHILANTHROPY
The TCU Chapter of Beta Theta Pi strives to provide support for organizations that work for the betterment of the community. We believe that it is our duty to consistently give back by helping those in need, as we appreciate the blessings in our lives.
Throughout 2014, Beta worked closely with Cook Children’s Hospital, specifically with the Creative Artist in Residence Programme (CARPE). The mission of the program is to identify and develop connections between the creative arts and healing arts that will improve the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health of our patients and families. In order to support the patients and families involved in CARPE, Beta created an annual event titled Giving HeART.
Giving HeART is an annual event hosted by TCU Beta Theta Pi to give back the CARPE Programme. The event is a silent auction of paintings created by the patients and family members of the CARPE Programme as well as other items donated to the auction. These paintings are typically created during Art Creation Days that Beta helps put on at Cook Children’s. All proceeds go directly back to the CARPE Programme to help fund patient therapy through music, art, dance, writing and acting.
The 1st Annual Giving HeART event was held in November 2014. After two events, Beta has raised approximately $16,000 for the CARPE Programme. The 6th Giving HeART event was be held September of this year and raised over $19,000 for Cook Children's.
